Our Projects

Skid Row Action Plan (SRAP)

SRAP is a comprehensive county-driven place based initiative to enhance the quality of life of neighborhood residents who are navigating the human crisis of homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and poverty through increasing access to care and housing opportunities.  FAAN led phase 1 of the Skid Row Action Plan (SRAP) community engagement strategy, a six month engagement process that elicited community ideas and initial recommendations. During this phase, key achievements included creation of the Skid Row Action Plan Resident Advisory Committee, incorporation of arts-based community engagement strategies to capture the hopes and desires of the community, and participatory voting activities to inform the prioritization of recommendations gleaned from the community. FAAN partnered with the Changewell Project to lead phase 2 of the engagement strategy which included greater efforts to outreach and include county departments. These combined efforts culminated into a comprehensive planning document that is before the County Board of Supervisors for approval.

TCE Main (Hope Village)

FAAN is the lead community outreach and engagement consultant on this future place-based community that will include 100+ residential homes and onsite services, gathering spaces, and amenities for the broader neighborhood. Achievements to-date include a successful project kick-off event and resource fair that attracted over 100 community members; creation of a Community Advisory Board (CAB); and outreach to historically underestimated communities including a Tongva elder, Chinatown service and cultural organizations, a local housing development, persons who have experienced incarceration, and homelessness service agencies.

South Los Angeles Community Advisory Group (SLACAG)

The SLACAG was a collective of five South Los Angeles based organizations who were charged by a local funder with creating a collaborative workforce development strategy to improve the income of families experiencing homelessness. FAAN was brought on to facilitate a collaborative planning process among the senior leadership of the participating organizations to develop a program design and proposal for the funder. Through a series of participatory planning we created a winning proposal for a multi-year funding award.
